Your Support Is Vital To Our Survival!

We will be celebrating our 35th anniversary next season!  Since our inception in 1985 the school has been committed to providing the community with excellent programs for adult enrichment, recreation, entertainment, and lifelong learning. Without your generosity, loyalty, and membership support we never could have lasted this long and been so successful! Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we, like so many other not-for-profits and small businesses, are struggling to survive. Membership support has never been so crucial! Many of last year’s members donated their credits. This generosity was very much appreciated. It will help tremendously with the upcoming budget. We are remaining optimistic and planning a wonderful 2020-2021 season. We will of course follow all safety guidelines and protocols. Some of our more popular classes will also be provided on ZOOM or with live streaming. Members will be given top priority to the programs that require limited numbers of students in a classroom.

The new and returning programs listed on the back of this letter are mere highlights of our 2020-2021 season… the tip of the iceberg if you will! (If your favorite teacher is missing do not worry, we may not have finalized program plans with him or her in time for the printing of this letter.) There are many programs still in the planning stage. In fact, our brochure might come out a couple of weeks later than usual as we wait for updates on COVID-19.

Check out these great membership advantages:

MEMBERS GET FIRST CHOICE. Members receive our brochure by First Class Mail a full month before non-members. This head start allows members to register early and almost always get first choice of popular programs. As I mentioned above, with limited class sizes this membership perk will serve you well!

MEMBERS PAY LESS. Members pay an average of $10 less than non-member prices for most programs. For the Full Series Lecture Series, members save $60! Memberships at the supporting level and above enjoy even more savings, as the application card explains. The Longboat Key Education Center is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) educational organization; so all membership contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Note: We have not raised our membership dues in 9 years!  What a deal!

MEMBERS GET CREDIT. Membership is also a form of cancellation insurance. Only members are entitled to apply for credit for withdrawals from programs they have registered for but cannot attend.

All 2019-2020 memberships expire in July, so become a 2020-2021 Member NOW to take full advantage of all your membership benefits.

Members are the backbone of The Longboat Key Education Center. We cannot make it without you, especially now in these unprecedented times.. Your generous support has allowed us to continue offering a wide variety of stimulating programs in a well-equipped, comfortable environment for 34, going on 35 years!  Thank you for being a member! We love our members!  And please remember that we are always looking for underwriters and sponsors for designated events/programs and teachers you love! Call me if you are interested so we can put your name(s) in the 2020-2021 brochure. 941-383-8811.

Sincerely yours,
Susan Goldfarb
Executive Director
